RAF Sheepskin flying jacket

This is a short description of this jacket. If you are interested in any of the jackets shown here at GGB please check out full product info HERE. If you decide to order then please email me for your upgrade code to use with your chosen jacket.

The Alexander RAF Sheepskin Flying Jacket is constructed from the highest quality 25mm North American sheepskin with an authentic ginger finish. Seams are overlocked and then bound with russet leather trim. Also features authentic zippers and belt buckle together with 8 hole underarm vents.

As with all Alexander jackets the attention to detail is key, our military sheepskins are individually handcrafted by our specialist sheepskin artisan Julie, who has over 20 years experience of not only re-creating the originals but also restoring all types of original military sheepskins of the era.

Wrist measuring guide
When measuring the wrist for your wrist size it is important to get this as accurate as you can to help save any issues with fit.

Please measure the wrist with the tape measure touching all the way around the wrist but not pulled too tightly.

Please do not be tempted to add any to the finished length. I build the straps around a metal wrist/Jig that I set to the wrist size you give me.

Lug-to-Lug explained

Simply measure from the centre of one spring bar or tube, across the watch (north to south) to the centre of the other spring bar or tube. This is your Lug-to-Lug measurement.

Strap Adjustment

Each gasgasbones strap is made to your wrist size. I incorporate around 10-15mm of adjustment in each strap for use between warmer and cooler days.

Details

A team of seasoned master craftsmen, all specialists in the art of re creating vintage leather jackets with over 262 years experience between them came together in 2012 to form the Alexander Leather Company.

The team at Alexander Leathers share a passion for authentic vintage leather jackets, our primary focus is to recreate the classics of bygone eras using only the best materials available and employing traditional manufacturing techniques coupled with outstanding attention to detail. Our focus is to meticulously produce high quality vintage inspired leather jackets, incorporating added comfort and functionality where requested to meet the demands of the modern day, for the enthusiast, we will always have the true authentic vintage leather jacket, after all, that’s what we do.

Inspired by 1920’s – 1960’s styling and firmly embedded in the roots of heritage, spirit and authenticity, Alexander Leathers recreates these jackets, previously worn by icons of the big screen and the military heroes of WWl and WWll for the enthusiast, the fashion conscious and for future generations to enjoy.

Our method of manufacture is very labour intensive, each and every jacket we produce is individually hand cut and crafted by one of our artisans right here in Selkirk, Scotland. Our team are not constrained by either time or cost in preparing each individual jacket. Our commitment is to ensure that each and every jacket that leaves our factory will become a valuable companion, built to last a lifetime of wear for a customer who values the highest quality craftsmanship over inferior materials and cost cutting production processes.

The Alexander brand will continually look to recreate more design classics to add to our vintage archive and will always strive to achieve the highest standards in all areas of our production processes and customer service.

At Alexander Leathers, we enjoy working, producing and collaborating with people who share the same enthusiasm and passion for high standards of workmanship and quality materials. We aim to create a product that is built to last and will develop its own patina, character and shape with time and wear.

Although an unending task, we at Alexander Leathers will continually strive for absolute perfection and hopefully work with and make some great life long friends along the way.

***  I will be OPENING on the 26th Aug for all bespoke GGB goodies  ***

When open bespoke orders will be queued in the usual way. However, from the 26th Aug I am taking a holiday so I will not be able to ship off the shelf goods if they are ordered in this period.

If this is your first time here, GGB is run by just myself and it is usual for me to have sporadic opening times and to have various items enabled or disabled.  I need to do this to throttle orders and keep leads times to an acceptable level. If at any time I'm closed or you find an item 'out of stock' and you would like to be notified when I open up again then please use the 'be notified' function in any of the strap pages (under item price)  This will ping an email to you the instant I re-enable ordering.

I thank everyone for their continued support and patience.   Carl 'Bones' Evans
