Morgan bonnet belt.

When I design and make something I try to make the item different to what is currently available. I hope you agree, my version of the Morgan bonnet strap is very different from the norm!  And, unlike other straps on the market mine is customisable with options for engraving the top ( and side if you wish ) to whatever you can think of within the size constraints available.

My bonnet strap is made in three parts with each snapping together with press studs rather than attaching using a big bulky buckle. Manufacured from high quality 4mm thick brandy tan leather and backed with black fleece, each section has a run of beige tan thread around it. Because I use thin fleece rather than the more usual thick wedge of lambs wool, my belts have a more visiualy pleasing lower profile in my opinion.

Each side section has a series of holes from which you choose the best option to attach to the car. A bolt through a large penny washer is more than enough to keep the belt securely fitted to the wing.

Q - What engraving options do I have?

A - Whatever you can think of and whatever I can fit on the size available. You could have you and partners name, your cars name. Some other text or unprotecected logo. You can even send in your own design and I can try and make that work. You can also send me DXF files of designs. Lots of options to really make this bonnet belt unique to you!

~~

Q - Can you engrave the Morgan logo ?

A - No. I asked permission to use the old logo but the old logo and MORGAN and PLUS4 script are protected. I have a similar font though I can use for text work

~~

Q - Will the bonnet damage my paint?

A - With any belt, even the Morgan ones you will get swirlies over time if you do not keep up with cleaning maintanance of your car and belt. This means keeping the car clean and brushing out the fleece from time to time with soft brush to remove any road grime. This apllies to any belt. Some owners fit paint protective strip in the area the belt will sit. I myself do not as I keep my car clean and the belt brushed out.

~~

Q - Wont the pressing the studs down put a dint in the bonnet?

A - Go to your car, press your thumb into the bonnet. Did it put a dint in it ?  No, the gauge of metal is much too thick.

~~

Q - Do I need to oil the belt?

A -  After every other clean cycle or so I apply a very small amount of leather genie. It doesnt need much, use sparingly.

Remember - The belt as shown is my own for my own car. If you order this belt it will come with your own custom engraving. Feel free to contact me first at carl@gasgasbones.com subject bonnet belt to go forward with your design.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE CLICK & READ BEFORE ORDERING

!!! IMPORTANT PLEASE READ AND DIGEST !!!

Due to the nature of my opening and closed catch up schedule, it is impossible for me to stick to a rigid lead time.

Orders typicaly come through in a three day open phase making it impossible for me to then get all those orders out at a specific lead time.

I try my very best to get goods out within a couple of weeks but enevitably lead times do run over.

PLEASE ALLOW FOR AROUND 4-6 WEEKS

At checkout there is a tick box. Ticking this box means you have read and understood this lead time.

Depending on what is in front of your order this lead time may fluctuate either way a little so please be aware of this when placing an order.

Please also note,  for all GGB BESPOKE goods the green IN STOCK tick only means I have materials to make up your order.

When I have reached capacity and to reduce backlogs I will close off orders to all bespoke made goods but you will then have the option to be notified when I 're-stock'

Lead time does not affect 'off the shelf' items such as Phoenix NATO's and tooling which will go at the next postal run from order date

Emails : I get a lot of emails which I struggle to keep on top of sometimes. I do try and answer in a timely manner but please give me a nudge again if I do not respond within a few days.

Wrist measuring guide
When measuring the wrist for your wrist size it is important to get this as accurate as you can to help save any issues with fit.

Please measure the wrist with the tape measure touching all the way around the wrist but not pulled too tightly.

Please do not be tempted to add any to the finished length. I build the straps around a metal wrist/Jig that I set to the wrist size you give me.

Lug-to-Lug explained

Simply measure from the centre of one spring bar or tube, across the watch (north to south) to the centre of the other spring bar or tube. This is your Lug-to-Lug measurement.

Strap Adjustment

Each gasgasbones strap is made to your wrist size. I incorporate around 10-15mm of adjustment in each strap for use between warmer and cooler days.
